During the presentation, the OnePlus 7 Pro manufacturer mentioned many new features, including a powerful processor, an advanced camera and a display with a high refresh rate. But one of the characteristics of the flagship gadget was not mentioned – talking about the degree of its protection from water. As usual, enthusiasts came to check the smartphone for survivability: the video with the “diving” session was already lit up on YouTube.
Even before the release, CEO Pete Lau said that OnePlus 7 Pro will receive some protection against liquid ingress, despite the lack of IP certification. Immediately after the announcement of the device YouTube-blogger Matthew Moniz decided to check how this statement is true.
During the experiment, the latest flagship OnePlus was placed in a container with water for 30 minutes. Despite the long dive, the device not only retained its working capacity, but did not receive any noticeable damage: both cameras, the display and the microphone continued to work without failures. The only "victims" turned out to be the dynamics of the apparatus: when playing music, slight distortion was heard.
The author of the video warned viewers that he does not recommend repeating his actions. According to him, he just wanted to make sure that if you accidentally contact with a liquid, a smartphone with a price of $ 669 does not turn into a “brick” on the same day.
