A well-known manufacturer of gadgets for gamers Razer is going to release a toaster. A few years ago, it was only an April Fool's joke , but the head of the company Min-Liang Tan promised to create a product under certain conditions. The fans did their part of the deal, and the head of Razer has nothing left but to officially announce the release of an unusual gaming device.
It all started in 2012, when a certain Mark Withers made a deal with Razer’s CEO to launch a toaster. By September 2013, the “Give us the Razer Toaster” page was created on Facebook. Then Min-Liang Tan promised that if the fans collected a million likes on this page, the company would definitely launch a toaster.
“If you get a million likes on your page, I’ll make just a terrific Razer toaster for you,” Min-Liang Tan said in 2013.
Three years later, in 2016, Razer released a comic April Fools trailer, which announced a toaster. The company even created a crowdfunding page, but it was all just a joke. Nevertheless, fans remembered the “Give us the Razer Toaster” page and continued to like it. After 5 years, the post on Facebook collected about 50,000 likes, and 12 people made themselves tattoos with a Razer toaster.
“Well – I didn't think these guys were going to do it – but they did. The contract we signed was to collect 1 million likes, and each Razer Toaster tattoo is equivalent to 100 thousand likes … and now they have 12 Razer Toaster tattoos, ”Min-Liang Tan wrote.
The head of Razer said he did not give up his words. He, along with designers and engineers will take to the development of the toaster. This may take several years, but he will regularly share progress with his fans.
