Sony has held a presentation of the 2019 Bravia TV line in Russia. The main novelty was ZG9 with 8K resolution and HDR support. Premium 4K HDR TVs of the XG85 series, the flagship XG95 line, OLED devices of the AG9 series (Master Series) and AG8 were also shown. The 4K-models XG80 and XG70 are in the middle price category.
“Sony understands the intentions and ideas of the content authors. We cooperate with many leading filmmakers and videographers around the world and are very proud that our most advanced technological solutions become part of their work. Sony Master Series TVs connect content creators and viewers, delivering stunningly realistic picture and sound, ”said Abe Takashi, CEO of Sony Electronics in Russia and the CIS.
The Master Series range includes the best Sony Bravia TVs with high image quality, realistic color reproduction, high contrast and clarity at the professional-level monitor level. These models feature Netflix Calibrated Mode and IMAX Enhanced Calibration Mode to ensure accurate image transmission.
“The world's first 8K-compatible television from Sony connects our top technologies and this is probably the best that the company has created in the TV category. Nowadays, televisions with large screens are in great demand. Sales in the 55+ segment are growing by an average of 1.5 times a year, while sales of super-large TVs with a diagonal size of 75+ in 2018 increased by more than 2 times. Therefore, in the new line of Bravia TVs we rely on models with large screens, ”said Denis Tyryshkin, head of the television equipment marketing team at the Sony Electronics marketing department in Russia and the CIS.
The 8K HDR ZG9 Series TV with a full carpet LED-backlit and a resolution of 8K (7680 × 4320) has become the top item. Its image detail is four times the 4K resolution and 16 times more than HD. The proprietary X1 Ultimate processor with a patented algorithm has been optimized to handle 33 million pixels (8K HDR). In addition, this chipset supports specially developed technology 8K X-Reality Pro, which improves the quality of any content up to 8K resolution with the help of a specialized 8K database.
Acoustic Multi-Audio includes four front-directional speakers (two below the screen and two above it), as well as a pair of twitter on the back of the TV. This arrangement allows you to get a balanced sound field – the sound seems to come from the center of the screen. Additionally, the Center Speaker Mode for home theater has been added to the ZG9. Dolby Atmos technology is also used to improve the quality of sound effects.
Also for the ZG9 series, completely new specialized 8K technologies were developed, including Backlight Master Drive with a full range of local dimming and 8K X-tended Dynamic Range Pro. The first includes super-dense LED modules with independent control, which provide high contrast with deep shadows and high brightness. To maximize the power of the backlight, 8K X-tended Dynamic Range PRO technology uses the stored energy, intellectually enhancing the brightness in areas where it is needed.
The ZG9 model uses X-Wide Angle technology to ensure picture quality with minimal color distortion, regardless of the viewing angle. And the X-Motion Clarity technology minimizes blurring of dynamic scenes, without losing the brightness of the screen.
Sony's 98K and 85 inch 8K HDR Sony TV sets will be available in Russia from August 2019. Price will be announced later.
The lineup of Sony OLED TVs was added to the AG9 and AG8 models with a 4K resolution (3840 × 2160). They provide high detail images, deep black color, rich and realistic colors, as well as the widest viewing angle. The latest generation of proprietary processor precisely controls 8 million pixels to produce a high-quality 4K HDR image.
Both AG9 and AG8 support the Sound-from-Picture Reality concept. This feature allows you to track the sound source on the screen. It seems that when the actors speak, the sound comes directly from the objects, and not from the speakers.
Sony BRAVIA AG9 and AG8 OLED TVs will be available in Russia from June of this year, and the oldest model of the AG9 series (77 ") from July. Prices will be announced later.
The top-end LCD TV series Bravia has become a model XG95 with LED-backlit display with a diagonal of up to 85 inches and a bright image.
The function of full-matrix backlight adjustment with X-tended Dynamic Range Pro technology ensures contrast that is 6 times higher than that of traditional LED TVs. X-Motion Clarity ensures clear and smooth transfer of fast movements, and X-Wide Angle technology minimizes color distortion and ensures accurate transmission of shadows and saturated colors when viewed from any angle, while the Netflix Calibrated Mode calibrates the image to how the content creators conceived it.
The XG95 uses Acoustic Multi-Audio acoustic technology with sound source drivers.
Televisions BRAVIA XG95 series are already available for sale in Russia, and models with a diagonal of 85 inches will go on sale in June.
