It seems that very soon on the street PS fans will begin a real holiday: Sony has announced the opening of a film studio called PlayStation Productions. As you might guess, she will be engaged in the adaptation of popular video games, coming out for different generations of the Japanese console. So, apparently, very soon such cult heroes as smuggler Joel, adventurer Nathan Drake and the scourge of the pagan gods Kratos will “move” to the big screens.
Asad Kizilbash, vice-president of PlayStation for marketing, has been appointed head of the new studio. The “older” Sony Pictures Studios will provide full support to the subsidiary, but the direct production of paintings will fall entirely on PlayStation Productions. The chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios, Sean Leiden, is sure that now is the best time for the adaptation of your favorite stories from the collection of PS games. Among others in the list of plans, he mentioned such titles as God of War, Uncharted and The Last of Us. As an example to follow, Leiden cited the Marvel line of films.
“We took a look at what Marvel did, taking the world of comics and turning it into the greatest event in the world of cinema. I want to think that we are following in their footsteps. But for now, we are only drawing inspiration from their ideas, ” said John Leiden.
Representatives of the company also noted that PlayStation Productions is not limited to large screens – the studio intends to launch production projects for television. Sony management has emphasized that it will jealously monitor the quality of products. So the future film incarnations of Ellie, Drake and the God of war are in safe hands.
