The developers of the MIUI shell officially announced the release of a beta version of the firmware based on the Android Q operating system. Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi 9 Transparent Edition users can already start testing the interface and OS functions.
A screenshot of the MIUI 10 interface based on Android Q was published by the director of a software development company. The key visual differences between Anroid Q and Android Pie are few. The main focus in Android Q is on improving user privacy: there is a ban on access of applications to the location when working in the background. And when activated by any service microphone, camera or GPS-module on the display will be notified. In addition, Android Q has a built-in dark theme.
Earlier, Xiaomi called the list of smartphones that are guaranteed to be able to install a test version of Android Q in the fourth quarter of this year. The list includes: Xiaomi Mi9 SE, Xiaomi Mi8, Xiaomi Mi8 Explorer Edition, Xiaomi Mi8 with a fingerprint scanner under the display, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, Xiaomi Mi MIX 3, Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. Redmi Note7 and Redmi Note7 Pro will receive an update in the first quarter of 2020.
The users of Xiaomi Mi9 and Mi9 Transparent Edition smartphones can now install MIUI 10.0.7.11. This update includes a security patch that Google introduced in July 5th.
