Sending satellites into orbit using launch vehicles is a precisely calculated process, but even the coordinated work of engineers does not guarantee the successful completion of the space mission. The network has a video of the fall of the military satellite Falcon Eye 1, the flight of which went out of control soon after the launch of the French launch vehicle Vega.
The contract of the aerospace company Arianespace with the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates provided for the launch of two satellites, Falcon Eye 1 and Falcon Eye 2, developed by Airbus Defense and Space and Thales Alenia Space companies. The first task was to provide images for commercial purposes. The launch was carried out from the Kourou cosmodrome in French Guiana. Falcon Eye 1 belonged to the United Arab Emirates. The mission was transferred twice because of high-altitude winds over the space center platform.
“About two minutes after the start there was a serious problem. As a result, we lost control of the mission. On behalf of Arianespace, I want to express my deepest apologies to customers for the loss of their cargo, ”said Ausanespace Vice President Luce Fabregett.
Vega carrier rocket was developed in 1998. For all the time of operation with its help 15 successful launches were made. The attempt to deliver the Falcon Eye 1 satellite into orbit was the first failure in the history of the carrier.
